Brunch-ing in bed

Hang in there, the weekend is almost here, which means 'brunch time is coming'! In previous posts (here, here and here), we've blogged about our favourite brunch spots in London and Athens. However, there's something even better than going out for brunch...Brunching in bed.

...are you ready?

Step one: On Saturday night, prepare the best cinnamon rolls (scroll down for our special recipe).
Step two: On Sunday morning, wake up late and bake the cinnamon rolls you've prepared last night.
Step three: Fry eggs...It's not brunch without eggs.
Step four: Brew your favourite coffee.
Step five: Enjoy your favourite fried eggs, coffee and home-made pastries in the comfort of your home. 

that's the Sunday spirit! 




ingredients

for the dough
75gr butter
12,5 gr dry yeast
250gr hazelnut milk (or normal milk)
100gr granulated sugar
450gr flour
one teaspoon salt
zest of one orange

for the filling
two tablespoons of cinnamon
two tablespoons of brown sugar
 

recipe

First, melt the butter
Then, beat the yeast and hazelnut milk. After five minutes, add the sugar and flour. Knead the dough by hand until all the ingredients are well combined.
Add the butter, salt and orange zest.
Knead until all the ingredients are well combined.
Cover your dough with plastic wrap and let it rest for one hour (or in our case, overnight and store in the fridge).
Roll out on a lightly floured surface and spread butter all over it.
Mix brown sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over the buttered dough.
Roll up your dough and cut into 11 peaces. 
Bake in a preheated oven (180 C) for 20 minutes.





* for the heart-shaped egg, you'll need a well greased heart-shaped cookie cutter and a well greased pan.
